ABOUT THIS MODULE
The module “AFRICAN CONFLICT AND POLITICS” was developed by leading international academics and practitioners.
The module was designed to enable EO Learning students gain a better understanding of geopolitics and its impact across numerous domains, be it security, business, governance, and so forth.
Africa cannot afford to isolate itself as an island in a world where conflict and ever-changing international political dynamics and interests interact with one another. Nor can the continent imagine it will remain untouched by these complex events and clashes of interests.
The African continent presents numerous examples of armed and political/ideological conflict. It is important for students to understand the impact of these events on the continent, and how the events can increase or reduce domestic (national) and regional pressures and risks.
The successful completion of the module is dependent on the desire of the student to read, research, learn, and understand what shapes our world, and in particular our continent: Africa.
The developers have put together an overview of the subject matter, along with a list of Essential Reading, Essential Watching, as well as a list of further Recommended/Essential Reading at the end of the module. A self-test exercise is added at the end of each part of the module—there are eight (8) self-tests in this module—for the student to test his/her understanding of each part.
There is, additionally, a module introduction video presented by the chairman of Executive Outcomes, along with a module overview and its importance by the primary developers of this module.
To ensure student interaction, a digital seminar/discussion session will be held on a day and time determined by the mentors of the module. This will enable students to raise concerns and questions, as well as discuss their views with participating students.
To earn the EO Learning Certificate of Completion, a final assessment will be done on completion of the Module.
